One of the projects where client has used Non-contact MTM to determine the safe operation term (duration) for a required pipeline operating pressure in order to raise the production. Non-contact MTM report was used as the baseline reference. The pressure raising practice was successful with no time loss.
In another project where client has a pipeline between an onshore gas terminal and gas processing plant which could not be inspected by conventional techniques. The pipeline was non-piggable, buried across a busy highway. Deepest buried depth was 5m. Noncontact MTM has managed to produce a conclusive pipeline integrity report with the distinction where three cracks were detected by the Non-contact MTM technique; but only one was able to verify by magnetic particle inspection (MPI). The other two subsurface cracks were only reveal visually when the cracks were ground.
In a recent development, CORRTROL GROUP has been requested by gas processing and supplying company in Malaysia to participate with the company in obtaining the approval from Department of Occupational Health and Safety (DOSH) of Malaysia for accepting Non-contact MTM as an inspection technique to determine the integrity of pipelines. This is an industry/owner initiative which marks a significant recognition of Non-contact MTM in meeting the requirements.
